Are your sexual needs being met in your relationship? After sex with your lover, are you left feeling satisfied, delightedly pleased with an orgasm or are you hung out to dry?
if your answer is the latter…
Congratulations! According to the research, you’re like 80% of the women out there who struggle to achieve climax through intercourse. The majority of women require at least 20 minutes of sexual activity to climax. While 75% of men reach orgasm in less than two minutes in half of all their sex sessions, some studies have actually shown that couples prefer sex sessions that lasts around seven minutes.
Obviously there is a gap here! A gap of at least 13 minutes… So what should you do with that time? First off, if you find that you struggle to get in the mood or to achieve an orgasm, then practice, practice, practice. You can’t expect your lover to know what to do if you don’t even know what works. So take the time to get to know yourself… intimately.
Once you have a gauge on what works for you, take the time to share it with your lover. Have an open and honest conversation about what you both need sexually, because chances are he’s clueless. According to Dr. Debbie Herbenicks, a sexual health educator at Indiana University and founder of MySexProfessor.com.
Close the Orgasm Gap
Armed with this new knowledge, here are some tips to help you close the gap:
- Be Confident! There is nothing sexier than a woman who loves herself. So do whatever it takes to put yourself in the right frame of mind. It could be a glass of wine, a warm bubble bath or some sexy lingerie. Need some inspiration? Check out TheLingerieAddict on Pinterest.
- Foreplay anyone? Foreplay is a great way to build up to an explosive bedroom session. I encourage you to find new and interesting ways to play with each other. Familiarity with each other can lead to stale intimacy. Check out these fun tips from Cosmopolitan.
- Keep it fresh! If you’re looking to keep the flame burning in the bedroom, then you have to be open and willing to try new things. “It is significantly easier for women to experience orgasm when they engage in a variety of sex acts as opposed to just one act,” according to Dr. Herbenicks. “For example, vaginal sex plus oral sex would be linked to a higher likelihood of orgasm than either one of them alone. This may be because more sex acts mean that people spend more time having sex.”
