Let’s face it, the longer you’re with a person, the harder it feels to come up with original ideas to make their birthday feel special.
If you really want to know the truth, it’s not about expensive dinners or a fancy piece of jewelry. It really is the thought that counts the most!
However, I can’t blame you for trying. After all, the day he/she was born was a special day for you too, and you can never put a price tag on that.
Ways to celebrate your significant other’s birthday:
#1: Throw a Surprise Soiree
Parties are a great excuse for having a social gathering. Not to mention, a surprise party will fill your partner’s heart with so much love! Instead of waiting until he/she turns some major milestone age, do it for their next birthday. Make sure family and friends are aware of this surprise celebration weeks in advance. Also, remind them not to say anything to the birthday celebrant, so they don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. He/she will surely carry those memories with them forever.
But… if your partner doesn’t like parties, go with the next option.
#2: Plan A Getaway birthday Weekend
If your loved one works really hard, going away for two or three days may be just what the doctor ordered. You can really make this the birthday one they’ll never forget if you plan a place they’ve always dreamed about going to.
If that’s not possible yet, maybe you can plan an activity that’s on their bucket list.
If you want to make him/her feel giddy like a kid again, try this…
#3: A Surprise On A Thread
Early in the morning on his/her birthday, right before they wake up have a surprise gift ready right next to them. Get a ribbon of their favorite color and tie it to their finger or other part of their hand, then attach it to the gift you want them to wake up to. They will surely smile from ear to ear.
And what you do with the ribbon afterwards is entirely up to you… 😘
#4: Set Up a Scavenger Hunt
One of the most thrilling things you can plan is a scavenger hunt. Here’s how it works: Leave him/her little notes and clues around the house and/or in their workbag that leads to mini gifts.
Try to find out ahead of time which places he/she is going to (maybe like their favorite coffee shop) and call in ahead of time and ask them to help you out. They could deliver a note on your behalf that leads to another clue.
The final note of the day should lead back to you!
Not only is this really fun, but it stimulates all the senses and gets the adrenaline going.
I know these ideas will inspire you to plan something truly special for your loved one’s birthday.
Now tell me…
What’s the most memorable thing you did for your special guy/gal on their birthday?
Does they still talk about it? Share with me. I can’t wait to see what you came up with!
