Being a woman at times can be challenging, especially in today’s day in age. Trying to find work/life balance between career, friends, and your digital dating life can be a lot but how you look shouldn’t suffer one bit, so we’re here with makeup tips that will keep you looking and feeling your best.

This morning, I had the pleasure of working with actress Evangeline Lilly from the Primetime Emmy Award winning show “Lost” and the major motion film “The Hobbit” and her go-to look is the natural look! Why?

The natural look is a makeup look that can sustain you throughout the day and then transcend into a great date night look as well. As I was getting her camera ready, she shared that during the first two seasons of “Lost” she did her own makeup to achieve that natural look.

Evangeline’s Favorite Makeup Tips and Products:

Vitalumiereaqua

Step 1:   Apply a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer to the areas you need more coverage to even out the skin. Her go to foundation is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It has a lovely scent, which she said has become her favorite part of her beauty routine.

For those that have sensitive skin, you can opt for a tinted moisturizer like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20.

ConcealerTriangle

Step 2: Apply a light layer of concealer under the eyes, making sure to blend out with your ring finger or a damp sponge/beauty blender.

Tip: Draw a triangle with the concealer vs. a left to right pattern. This helps to create a lifted appearance to the face.

Step 3: Curl lashes and apply two coats of black mascara. Regardless of skin tone or hair color, I always recommend black mascara, because it helps the eyes to pop. (Tip: Never pump the mascara wand in the tube, as it dries out the product faster and leads to bacterial growth.)

benetint

Step 4: Apply a cream blush or cheek stain in a tri-dot system to the apples of your cheeks. Gently blend upward by tapping the product into the skin. Evangeline swears by Benefit Bene Tint Lip and Cheek Stain.

Step 5: Apply a hydrating lip balm or gloss to your lips. If you want to add some color, go for a shade that is one shade darker than your natural lip color. Evangeline loves applying Bene Tint to her lips for a healthy flush of color.

To take this look from daytime into the evening:

Step 1: Start by applying a nude eye shadow all over the lid.

Step 2: Next apply a soft brown in your natural crease.

Bonus Tip: My preferred brush is a MAC 217.

Step 3: Gently blend by using a windshield wiper motion back and forth.

Bonus Tip: For a more dramatic pop, add a copper color to the outer corner of the eye.

Step 4: Apply eyeliner to the top lashes. Looking to add more definition to your eyes? Line the bottom lash and water line.
